| Retail Store Manager Assessment Test
PurposeThis test was developed to evaluate the knowledge necessary for successful performance in a Retail Store Management incumbent (including Store Manager and Assistant Manager positions). General DescriptionThis test, from which a four-page report is provided to the client, consists of six problems that evaluate logic ability, skill in interpretation of business specifications, and potential for translating business problems into symbolic logic. The Retail Store Manager Assessment Test is divided into five parts. PART A – Retail Management Knowledge 15 minutes: You must choose the most appropriate answer for 15 multiple-choice questions that will measure your retail store management knowledge. PART B – Problem Solving in a Retail Store Environment 15 minutes: You must solve 5 short problems each requiring a specific answer that will measure your problem solving ability in a retail store environment. PART C – Retail Management Procedural Logic 15 minutes: You must follow a flowchart and answer 10 multiple-choice questions that will measure your ability to understand detailed procedures. PART D – Business Judgment for Retail Management 8 minutes: You must solve 6 short problems each requiring a specific answer that will measure your business judgment in a retail store environment. PART E – Supervisory Skills in a Retail Store Environment 8 minutes: You must solve 6 short problems each requiring a specific answer that will measure your supervisory skills in a retail store environment. Positions for which the test is appropriateThis test is used to pre-screen job applicants and in-house personnel in the following positions:
Test administrationThe administration of this test is simple. The test takes approximately 1 hour to complete. The applicant should be given the test booklet, and told that all instructions are stated in the test booklet. The room for the test should be a relatively quiet one preferably without a telephone that might ring during the test. The candidate must not communicate with any person during the test, or be given the opportunity to make a photocopy of the test. All work should be done in the test booklet, in pencil.
