Programming

Problem one required the individual to understand a detailed banking procedure and to follow an established pattern before answering specific questions. This candidate scored 12 out of a possible 12 points for this problem.

In problem two, the person had to place six statements in the proper sequence in order to create a valid procedure. The goal was to measure the candidate’s ability to work with procedures. This individual achieved a score of 10 out of 12 points.

The third problem tested concentration and accuracy characteristics by having the person solve progressively difficult expressions according to technical specifications. This candidate scored 10 out of a maximum 14 points.

Problem four tested one’s ability to evaluate instructions, table look-up, and data manipulation. Several seven-digit expressions that simulated computer instructions had to be analyzed in order to generate new numeric values. The intent was to evaluate potential for comprehending common computer functions. This person scored 14 out of 19 points.

Overall, this person scored 46 out of 57 points, which demonstrates an above average aptitude for programming.

Analytical

The fifth problem is a series of multiple-choice questions aimed at evaluating the individual's skill at analyzing complex business procedures. The candidate also has to calculate some complicated "invoice" totals according to specific procedures. This person scored 12 out of a possible 15 points.

The first part of problem six required the candidate to analyze a procedure and then develop a short symbolic program for it. The second part asked the candidate to find and to correct errors in an existing program that represents a business requirement. This person scored 20 out of 28 points.

Overall, this candidate scored 32 out of 43 points, which demonstrates above average analytical ability.

Recommendation

The candidate's total score on the Programmer Analyst Aptitude Test was 78 out of 100, which was above average.
