To evaluate interpersonal traits, career/lifestyle, and personal incentive factors.

General Description

The IPI Battery for Interpersonal Skills, from which a five-page report is provided to the client, consists of instruments measuring the following:

Positions for which the test is appropriate

This test is used to pre-screen job applicants and in-house personnel in any position.

Job criteria measured

bulletAbility to Work With People - Measures the candidate's desire for daily people contact on-the-job. A person who scores in the average range prefers a job with an equal mix of people contact and administrative work.
bulletEmotional Stability - Measures a person's emotional stability, responsibility and resistance to stress. Groups constituted of people of high average stability or more generally make strong teams, trusting one another, and are free from manifestations of panic and low morale.
bullet16 PF (5th Edition) measures the following personality factors:
bulletWarmth (A): Addresses the tendency to be warmly involved with people versus the tendency to be more reserved socially and interpersonally.
bullet

Reasoning (B): This factor concerns the ability to solve problems using reasoning (verbal, numerical and logical).

bulletEmotional Stability (C): This factor largely concerns feelings about coping with daily life and its challenges.
bulletDominance (E): This factor involves the tendency to exercise one's will over others as opposed to accommodating the wishes of others.
bulletLiveliness (F): This factor measures the individual's tendency to be lively and spontaneous versus taking life more seriously.
bulletRule-Consciousness (G): This factor addresses the extent to which cultural standards of right and wrong are internalized and used to govern the individual's behavior.
bulletSocial Boldness (H): Reflects the tendency to be bold and adventurous in social groups as opposed to being timid and shy.
bulletSensitivity (I): This factor focuses on people's sensitivities and sensibilities.
bulletVigilance (L): This factor relates to the tendency to trust versus being vigilant about other's motives and intentions.
bulletAbstractedness (M): This addresses the type of things to which people give attention and thought
bulletPrivateness (N): This factor addresses the tendency to be forthright and personally open versus being private and non-disclosing.
bulletApprehension (O): This factor measures self-assurance versus the tendency to worry and feel apprehensive and insecure.
bulletOpenness to Change (Q1): This factor addresses the tendency to think of ways to improve things and to enjoy experimenting versus the tendency to stick to the traditional ways of looking at things.
bulletSelf-Reliance (Q2): This factor measures the individual's tendency for maintaining contact with or proximity to others.
bulletPerfectionism (Q3): Being perfectionist or tolerating disorder.
bulletTension (Q4): This scale is associated with nervous tension. High scorers tend to have restless energy and are fidgety when made to wait. Low scorers tend to feel relaxed and are slow to become frustrated.

Test administration

The test requires only clerical supervision to administer and is untimed. All questions must be answered to ensure proper evaluation.
